First up on our list of exciting events on the island is the Farmer’s Market. Every Saturday, people from all over the area come together and set up a bustling farmer’s market in downtown Fernandina Beach. There you can find locally grown fruits and vegetables, tasty treats, and handmade pieces. They are open year round, come rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is sure to excite guests of all ages, as there is truly something for everyone.
Tours and Tastings
Fernandina Beach offers a wide variety of tours and tastings on the weekends for those looking to find the best eats in the area. The Farmer’s Market Tour and Cooking Class is offered from 10:30 a.m. t0 12:30 p.m. every Saturday at the Amelia Island Culinary Academy. During this tour, guests are invited to join Chef Bill on a walk through the Farmer’s Market, as he gives helpful tips and tricks on how to shop like a chef. Afterward, this talented chef will guide you through bringing out the best in fresh produce using delicious ingredients and powerful combinations.
A mixology tour is also offered in the evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Available to adults 21 and over, this tour visits four unique stops where guests can take part in some delicious cocktails, make special for you. You’ll get to hear about the stories of each bartender, their tips and tricks while enjoying some amazingly crafted drinks. At the end of the night, each guest is inviting to vote for which beverage they enjoyed the most, and then enjoy a quick walk from the historic downtown area, to some of the island’s most charming vacation rentals.
Evening Cruises
Like some of the tours available, the island offers two different tours that will appeal to many different audiences. For those traveling with children, a family-friendly sunset cruise is a great option filled with lively stories of the history of the surrounding area. For adult guests, the adults-only twilight cruise is a great place to hear about the area and enjoy the night. Both of these tours begin at 6:30 p.m. and last till 7:30 or 8:30 depending on the tour.
