Whether you’re visiting for an upcoming event in Fernandina Beach or want to escape the stresses of city living, you’ll want to stop at one of these local restaurants for a brunch treat.
Café Karibo
Located on 3rd St., it’s hard to miss Café Karibo’s bright blue building. This cozy, casual bistro boasts an eclectic menu of seafood, American and international cuisine, but their Sunday brunch menu is a favorite among the locals.
Whether you’re leaning more towards breakfast or lunch, Café Karibo has a dish for you. Try the classic French toast, which features slices of thick cinnamon brioche served with chicken apple sausage and topped with real maple syrup. The Shrimp and Grits feature jumbo shrimp served over creamy cheese grits with onion gravy and Karibo bacon.

In the mood for something spicy? Try the Chorizo Hash Breakfast Bowl, which features spicy chorizo sausage with potato hash, bell peppers, onions, two poached eggs, scallions and sour cream. The Hole Mole Huevos Rancheros features corn tortillas, the café’s signature mole sauce, egg, spinach, chicken and cheese topped with sour cream and pico de gallo. Don’t forget to take advantage of the bottomless mimosas while you’re there.
Café Karibo is open 10:30 am – 3 pm on Sunday.
The Patio Place
Located at the corner of 5th and Ashe, the Patio Place serves brunch all weekend from 8:30 am to around 2:00 pm. The restaurant has two dining rooms and an outdoor patio with bistro tables, couches, and comfortable dining areas.
Along with a delicious menu, The Patio Place also has a bottomless mimosa bar with your choice of fruit and juice. The restaurant’s brunch menu includes a wide selection of sweet or savory crepes, benedicts, and delicious lunch options.

The Americano Starter crepe features scrambled eggs, spinach, Boar’s Head bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato and sweet tomato jam. The Ham with Hollandaise features Boar’s Head ham and hollandaise sauce on top of a sweet crepe with two poached eggs.
A variety of sweet crepes are available, including Nutella, caramel and lemon drop. For a gourmet crepe, try the bananas foster, which features crepes topped with flambeed bananas and dark vanilla sauce.
Non-crepe plates include a vegan bowl, Asian rice bowl, Mexican rice bowl, and The Patio Plate, which features two eggs, choice of meat, potato hash, and a white flour rolled crepe.

Healthy options include Greek yogurt with granola, berries, and honey, and the Harvest Salad with harvest vegetables, salad greens, feta cheese, and candied nuts.
The Patio Place serves brunch Tuesdays-Sundays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they have a full bar available.
Ms. Carolyn’s
A local favorite, Ms. Carolyn’s is tucked away on Sadler Road in a strip mall. If you’re tired of dealing with Fernandina beach parking, this restaurant’s location is perfect. Specializing in breakfast, the restaurant has vegetarian and vegan options available.
The house specialties include favorites like Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine as well as the Lumberjack, which features smoked sausage with two eggs, toast, and your choice of potatoes or grits. The Surfer specialty features scrambled eggs and grilled tomato on a slice of Texas toast, topped with a cheese sauce.
Along with the house specialties, Ms. Carolyn’s menu includes a variety of omelets (including a crab omelet), pancakes, French toast, and more. If you’re in the mood for something spicy, try the Nacho Breakfast Taco, which features two flour tortillas stuffed with eggs, cheddar cheese, ham, and nacho cheese sauce.

For vegetarians, there’s the veggie quesadilla, veggie omelet, and veggie wrap.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, Ms. Carolyn’s also serves dessert. Their dessert menu includes a variety of chocolate cakes, coconut cake, Italian cream cake, key lime cake, banana pudding, pecan pie, strawberry shortcake, and more.
Ms. Carolyn’s is open for breakfast or brunch Tuesday-Saturday 7 am – 3 pm and Sunday from 8 am through 2 pm.
